South Coast Bike Festival is a weekend of bike riding, beach activities, parties, bonfires, and local beer for all cycling enthusiasts from fat, mountain and road riders.

Enjoy a variety of curated rides, activities & free time to explore the surrounding stunning scenery of the South Coast and the town of Port Orford.

Welcome party from 6-8pm.  Check in and enjoy music, welcome beverage and snacks.  Welcome party will take place at the new site for Coast Health Center (old Umpqua Bank building) 716 NE, US-101, Port Orford, OR 97465.

6:00PM – “Critical Mass Bike Ride

Participants are invited to join in the monthly “Critical Mass Bike Ride” in Port Orford which is brought to you by the local riders in the area and Pineapple Express Adventure Rides.  This is a casual ride around town that takes place the final Friday of the month and will go from 6-7PM.  Meets Pineapple Express Adventure Rides @ 832 Highway 101 and will ride by our Welcome party for anyone that wants to join in on the fun!

10:00AM

Trails ride @ Cape Blanco led by Erin Kessler of Pineapple Express Adventure Rides.  Meet at Lighthouse at Cape Blanco State Park and enjoy a short ride (approximately 7 miles) on the local trails.  Ride can be done on a Fat bike or Mountain Bike.

12PM “Scenic Scavenger Hunt.”  Explore the breathtaking scenery and cute town of Port Orford by bike.  Scenic Scavenger Hunt will start at Battle Rock Park & Visitors Center and take you around some of the most breathtaking views in Port Orford as well as hidden gems in the town.  This can be done on any type of bike but Fat Bikes will have bonus ride time on the beach. 

5-7PM Fat Bike Beach party (everyone is welcome):  If you don’t have a Fat Bike you can rent one (see below) or just come down to the beach and enjoy the fun activities, food, beer & bonfire. 

*Fat Bike Beach Party is on the beach at Cape Blanco! 

Beach Activities will include: 

  • Race Ride w/ obstacles from Cape Blanco to Elk River & back
  • Bunny hop contest
  • Limbo contest
  • Slow Race
  • Smallest Circle competition
  • Track stand competition

7:30AM check in & registration for Wild Rivers Coast Scenic Bike Ride (Coast Health Ride for Life).  Start/Finish location of the ride: 716 NE, US-101, Port Orford, OR 97465

9AM Wild Rivers Coast Scenic Ride begins for Full & Medium Ride; 

3 ride options; 

Full Ride 61+ miles

Medium Ride 44 miles

12PM Short Ride 7 miles begins

1-5PM After ride party with taco’s, beer, music, raffle at Coast Health Center lot.  

*Note: the Wild Rivers Coast Scenic Bikeway is a beautiful ride along some of the Southern Oregon Coast’s most breathtaking sites.  You are not on a separated bike path. You will be riding with some traffic (although very light) as this is a road ride. All rides will start & finish at the Coast Health Center lot and are an out and back and will have rest areas with light snacks & hydration mechanical support, SAG, and radio communications support along the way.  

Option to drive yourself to the Salmon Hatchery and do only the Elk River section of the ride which is a total of 22.5 miles out & back.  

Rest stops;

  • Elk River Salmon Hatchery – restroom, light snacks, hydration, & radio communications.
  • Butler Bar – restroom, light snacks, hydration, & radio communications.
  • Cape Blanco Lighthouse – restroom, light snacks, hydration, & radio communications.

Lodging Partners

Camping:  We have the Group camp site reserved at Cape Blanco State Park from Friday, September 27th – Monday the 30th.  There are no hook ups and space is limited to 24 vehicles and 50 people. There are 3 porta potties in the group camp but main campground restrooms & showers are a short walk away.  There are picnic tables & running water in group camp but no hook ups for RV’s. There is a limit to how many RV’s are allowed and space is limited so please specify your type of camping.  Registration to stay in campground is an additional fee and is per person and includes 1 vehicle per group (if registering a family, only 1 car is included for entire family). Check in time is 4PM and check out is 1PM.  Just follow the signs to the Group Camp Site.

Hotel:  If camping isn’t your thing, there are also several quaint hotels in the heart of Port Orford.

*Update* as of 9/26/19 our group camp site is now full.  We are not allowed any more RV’s or trailers in the site.  There is first come first served camping for RV’s, trailers, and tents at the main campground but we are now at capacity for the group site.

If arriving to ride on Saturday, can park at the Cape Blanco Lighthouse. If arriving on Sunday, can park near new site for Coast Health Center (old Umpqua Bank building) 716 NE, US-101, Port Orford, OR 97465.
Family can spectate on the beach for the fat bike events happening on Saturday evening. Family can also join you at the after ride party on Sunday where they can purchase food and beverages.
Friday there will be a welcome beverage and light snacks available. Saturday we will be BBQing brats and having beverages on the beach for our evening activities. Sunday, there will be light snacks and beverages provided at rest areas.  You should come prepared with your own water bottles, nutritional products, blocks, bars, and goo’s.  No food will be served before ride in morning but water will be available. The Sunday after ride party will have food and beverages and each rider will receive a ticket for meal & 1 beer.  Additional food & beverages can be purchased at party.
